Compressore (com|pres|so|re) the Italian word for
"tamper" or "compressor". Since great espresso and Italy
are fairly synonymous, we thought that Compressore would be the ideal name for
a tamper with such an organic feel and comfortable design. For those who still
settle the coffee bed with a tap to the portafilter—using topside of the tamper
handle—you'll notice we've included an extra measure of safety for both your
tamp and the shop's portafilter: a soft reforming epoxy dome cap.
Weighing in at 1lbs 3.1oz including a 58mm convex stainless
steel tamper piston, this tamp is larger but lighter than our all stainless
steel ProTamp. The machine-milled powder coated aluminum handle has the heft
and feel the professional baristi today are looking for. Debuted at CoffeeFest
Seattle 2005, this espresso tamp created quite a stir among some of the
industry’s top professionals.
The tamper piston is professionally machine-milled stainless
steel, and is available in your choice of a flat or convex tamp piston in the
following stock sizes: 58mm, 57mm, 56mm, 55mm, 53mm, 52mm, 51mm and 49mm.
Our Compressore espresso tamp is currently available in
Black, Blue and Red Anodized colors.
Anodizing—or anodizing—is an electrolytic passivation
process used to increase the thickness and density of the natural oxide layer
on the surface of metal parts. Anodic films are generally much stronger and
more adherent than most paints and platings, making them less likely to crack
and peel. Anodizing increases corrosion and wear resistance, and provides
better adhesion for paint primers and glues than bare metal.
Buy it complete tamp or purchase the handle alone from our
Tamp Handle section for your EspressoParts Tamper Piston.
