Flushing An Espresso Machine Boiler

FLUSHING A BOILER

Troubleshooting

1. Turn off machine.

Important: Do NOT at any time turn the machine back ON unless you have at least ¼ to ½ tank boiler of water - use your sight glass (on the right side of the machine) to determine the water level in your boiler.

2. Remove drip tray.

3. Locate the drain valve. It is usually the valve closest to the drain cup. It has a black lever and is connected to a copper line, which drains into the drain cup.

4. Slowly open the drain valve (turn black knob) -“ hot water should start to drain into the drain cup.

5. Once the water stops draining into the drain cup close the valve. (Note: a valve is open when the lever runs flush with the line, it is closed when the lever is perpendicular to the line.)

6. Open one steam valve - turn the steam wand on and keep it locked in the on position or hold down the (black) steam wand handle / lever.

7. Use the manual fill pedal / lever (located on the right / front side of the espresso machine) to fill the boiler. Fill to max line on your sight glass.

8. Machine is still off -“ do not turn on yet. One steam wand lever is still in the "on" position.

9. Open the other steam valve, keep steam wand lever in the "œon" position -“ now both wands should be "œon".

10. Once again open the drain valve by the drain cup (under the drip tray which should still be removed).

11. Once it stops draining, close the valve.

12. Manually fill the boiler using manual fill pedal on the right side of the machine. Make sure boiler is at least ¾ full - max (do not overfill).

13. Close steam valves, place steam wand handles / levers in the "œoff" position.

14. Unit should now be full & heating - coming to temp. It should take 30-60 minutes for unit to be in operating condition.
